By leveraging experience, technical excellence, and a commitment to innovation, Oscilion continues to lead the way in electronic warfare solutions.

The history behind Oscilion

Oscilion’s journey began in 1993 when FMV Sensor required a ground-based radar jammer for the Swedish Army. The task was assigned to Microdata Innovation, a company known for its digital radar switches for naval vessels. FMV traditionally named its projects based on the day of the first project meeting, which in this case was ”Adrian.” However, as the name was already taken by another airborne jammer, they opted for the second project meeting date, which coincided with the name day of ”Astor.” From 1994 onwards, Microdata Innovation delivered several Astor radar jamming systems. These two-band modular jammers were initially deployed in a scissor-lift design before being integrated into Mitsubishi MU-2 target aircraft and later in LearJet 35. The foundational aircraft installation design introduced during this period remains a core feature in subsequent Astor models.

At the turn of the millennium, FMV commissioned Microdata Innovation to develop the Astor II, the first DRFM (Digital Radio Frequency Memory) jammer produced by a private Swedish company. However, due to shifts in defense policy, Microdata Innovation refocused on telecom products, putting the future of radar jamming expertise at risk. To preserve this critical knowledge, the key individuals Tommy Kahlin and  Lennart Sundberg from the original 1993 project continued under the one-man company My-konsult, now known as Oscilion in 2006 when FMV ordered a new generation of DRFM-based jammers, the Astor III series. This system became the backbone of target aircraft radar jamming operations and has undergone multiple upgrades over the years to keep pace with evolving radar technologies.

In 2010, Oscilion expanded internationally by leasing the Astor III system to the Netherlands. The company initiated the development of the Astor IV system in 2012 and participated in an international procurement for EW systems. Additionally, it achieved EASA 1.45 certification, reinforcing its commitment to quality and compliance. By 2014, Oscilion had successfully delivered 12 Astor II systems since its launch, showcasing its growing market presence. It also achieved ISO 9001 and 14001 certifications, emphasizing its dedication to quality and environmental management.

Oscilion continued its expansion in 2018 by acquiring a 60% stake in JPC Composite. In 2022, the company strengthened its industry position by acquiring Marstrom Composite AB and the remaining 40% of JPC Composite, further enhancing its technological and manufacturing capabilities. In 2022, Scandinavian Astor Group was formed and Oscilion along with Marstrom Composite and JPC Composite was the subsidiaries of the group. In 2024, My-konsult rebranded as Oscilion to better reflect its international ambitions and its expanding portfolio, which includes the Astor IV, Astor Eclipse, and other upcoming electronic warfare (EW) projects.
